Reality TV show “I Am Filial” has taken Singapore by storm with its $1-million prize money for the winner who portrays exceptional filial piety. This highest-rated show in TV history is the brainchild of producer, Millionaire Liu, whose winning way is the use of reward-based citizen paparazzi. Millionaire Liu will stop at nothing for record-breaking viewership ratings and sponsorships for the show. The three finalists are Woo Yishuang, Yoona Zhuang and Pek Ah Beng, each with very different backgrounds and agenda for participating in the show. Security guard Pek Ah Beng, seemingly the least filial among the 3 finalists, has a fiery temper and appears aloof to his parents. Ah Beng is the finalist who is frowned upon by most but Millionaire Liu is convinced that his straightforward personality and brazenly immodest mannerisms add genuine comedic element to the show. Yoona seems loving and patient to her parents, and out of love and indulgence towards their daughter, Yoona’s parents agree to play the parts for her to win the contest. The hot favourite finalist is Yishuang, lawyer and town council vice president, who has gone to great lengths to grant her mother’s wish. At this juncture, Ah Beng withdraws from the contest and pleads with Millionaire Liu for his footage not to be shown.
